Assignment # 2

For this assignment we had to come up with a concept to represent obituaries in a new way.

We need a concept, a full page explanation on why it would work and lastly 1 or 2 sketches of our idea.

We had three choices either to make this concept based on 1 person, a concept based on a town, or lastly a concept based on the entire united states.

• Bold print for title of name
• some use last name first and first name last
• Always tells age of person
• Catch phrase highlights best part of life or best aspect known for
• Short Paragraphs to keep audience attention
• Accompanied by pics at time mostly black and white
• Everyone is made to seem important
• Short paragraphs lead to bigger ones
• Uses a lot of adjectives to describe a persons life
• Uses quotes from the deceased
• Tells original location of birth
• Talk about affectionate things about a person not usually revealed to public
• Tells location of funeral service / time
• Tells amount of children
• Tell amount of grandchildren
• Sometimes says beloved husband/wife of an alive or deceased wife/husband other times not
• Sometimes categories as a devoted father or loving father
• Tells whether they were active or no active in church
• Cause of death specified
• Tells type of funeral they will have such as whether they will be cremated or such
• Some request donations
• Can tell religion from the language used
• Tells a story

• The moving Tribute : very powerful most effective, the music or talk and the imagery...... the text was very ineffective
